A Few Things to Love About Autumn

I love Autumn. I’ve always loved Autumn.  The weather is perfect for walks outdoors on those shorter days with crisp cold mornings and a wash of sunshine. Not so hot as to sap your energy and not so cold as to make the idea of going outside seem unappealing. The sound and feel of the leaves crunching underfoot is like music to my ears and something I instantly relate to this time of year. Fallen leaves and the rich palette of autumn create a breathtaking backdrop, whether out walking, or gazing out the window on a rainy cab ride.

I am also an introvert, which I think has a lot to do with why I always look forward to this season the most. Autumn is a quiet time, offering a change in pace as we recharge our batteries after a busy summer.

As September begins, this is the time to embrace autumn wholeheartedly and start ordering those pumpkin spiced lattes on your next coffee date. It won’t be long before warm coats, scarves and gloves are required for bonfire night parties, and I’m more than ready for the twinkling lights of scented candles filling the house as the evenings grow darker and the fireplace entices us in with its warm glow. As well as all the fun of Halloween, soon enough there will be a Christmas tree to decorate too.

For me, Autumn brings with it an atmosphere of thoughtfulness. It's a season when the time seems to slow down, just like everything in nature, solitude and calm. The best time to curl up with a great book, grab a hot drink and get cosy.
