Laurie is pretty sure love at first sight doesn’t exist.
After all, life isn’t a scene from the movies, is it?
But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there’s a moment of pure magic… and then her bus drives away.
Laurie thinks she’ll never see the boy from the bus again. But at their Christmas party a year later, her best friend Sarah introduces her to the new love of her life. Who is, of course, the boy from the bus. Determined to let him go, Laurie gets on with her life.
But what if fate has other plans?
My thoughts:
Laurie sees a man outside of her bus window one day. There are no words, no actions, just a moment between them as their eyes meet. The encounter is enough to make her fall head over heels in love with him, a total stranger. Afterwards, she just can’t stop thinking about him and longs for a chance that they might meet again, for real this time.
Laurie, unable to let go of that single moment, spends time searching to find the mysterious boy from the bus. Of course, it’s not hard to see it’s more than just coincidence when he walks into her Christmas party on the arm of her best friend Sarah!
One Day in December is a story that will take you on the journey of three close friends as they navigate life and love. Following Laurie, Sarah and Jack through ten years of love, heartbreak and friendship, this really is such a joyous, heart-warming and festive love story to enjoy at Christmas time as you cosy up by the fire.
I first heard about this one through Reese Witherspoon’s ‘Hello Sunshine’ book club and thought I’d give it a go, but I had no idea how much I’d enjoy One Day in December. The writing is fun and light-hearted and I just loved the characters. The story pulled me in and didn’t let go: there were moments that made me laugh, and parts that had me very close to tears. Once I’d started reading, I honestly couldn’t put this book down!
Simply put, One Day in December really is the perfect love story and feel-good read for Christmas 2018. I loved it!
