Let’s talk coffee. Coffee has become a bit of an obsession for me, which you’ll already know if you follow me on Instagram! With this in mind, I thought it’d be fun to put together a little post to tell you about some of my favourite coffee places in my local area and why I love the ambience of a cosy coffee shop.
I love to pop along to a local coffee shop because it's basically a sanctuary. As well as a great spot to meet up with friends for a chat over hot drinks, a good coffee shop can also be an office away from the office. Sitting in a cafe can often be a great place to think, do some work, or even just to sit quietly with a book. The atmosphere and furnishings are really important in creating the right kind of ambience to draw me in.
I have to admit, I like a little trip to Starbucks as much as anyone, but mostly I prefer to find independent places to get my coffee fix. Experienced baristas can offer great tasting-coffee, as well as some of the most photogenic latté art you’ll ever see. This is key! Latte art is a way of preparing coffee created by pouring microfoam into a shot of espresso and creating a pattern or design on the surface of the latté. The quality of the latté art is unique to whichever barista is making the coffee, and it’s incredibly satisfying to watch the process. Latté art is a fast-growing trend, and I love it.
No. 1 Brasserie & Bar
1 Church St, Christchurch BH23 1BW
On Church street in Christchurch, you’ll find Tom’s. Tom’s bar offers fantastic barista coffee, and it’s one of my favourite spots to visit on a Sunday morning for coffee and cake. I’m trying to cut back on the cake though! It is a really relaxing setting, bright and open plan, but also with a cosy sophisticated feel. The coffee is well priced and comes with a delicious shortbread biscuit on the side. The staff are friendly and make fantastic coffee, with always wonderful latté art! I usually order a skinny cortado or latte, and these are always presented well and served piping hot. The photos below were taken on recent visits to Tom’s, and I can highly recommend the coffees here.
Framptons
48-50 High St, Ringwood BH24 1BQ
Framptons is a relaxed coffee bar and restaurant in Ringwood, on the edge the New Forest, and is another place I love to stop by for coffee when I’m in the area. The coffee and hot drinks here are great, and I highly recommend trying one of their skinny lattés. The atmosphere here is the best part, and the whole place has a super cosy feel. I especially love it in the Autumn and Winter months, with the warm lighting inside and sturdy wooden tables and chairs creating a very relaxed and cosy feel. The latte art on my last few visits has been pretty great too!
