Seven Days of Us – Francesca Hornak
Synopsis:
It's Christmas, and the Birch family is gathering for the first time in years. Olivia, the eldest daughter, has returned from treating an epidemic abroad and must go into quarantine for seven days. Her mother has decided it's the perfect opportunity to spend some 'special time' together. Her youngest sister wholeheartedly disagrees. Her father isn't allowed an opinion. When no one can leave the house, seven days for the Birches feels like an eternity. Especially when they're all harbouring secrets. One of whom is about to come knocking at their door...
Why I loved it:
I loved Seven Days of Us. The story swallowed me up. It has all the makings of your classic rom-com and is such a wonderful feel good read. It is the perfect heart-warming family novel, a light and whimsical little festive read. Seven Days of Us is the debut novel from Francesca Hornak, and it really is perfect for this time of year! I highly recommend this one for a classic Christmas read.

One Day in December - Josie Silver
Synopsis:
Laurie is pretty sure love at first sight doesn’t exist.
After all, life isn’t a scene from the movies, is it?
But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there’s a moment of pure magic… and then her bus drives away.
Laurie thinks she’ll never see the boy from the bus again. But at their Christmas party a year later, her best friend Sarah introduces her to the new love of her life. Who is, of course, the boy from the bus. Determined to let him go, Laurie gets on with her life.
But what if fate has other plans?
Why I loved it:
One Day in December is a story that will take you on the journey of three close friends as they navigate life and love. Following Laurie, Sarah and Jack through ten years of love, heartbreak and friendship, this really is such a joyous, heart-warming and festive love story to enjoy at Christmas time as you cosy up by the fire. The writing is fun and light-hearted and I just loved the characters. The story pulled me in and didn’t let go: there were moments that made me laugh, and parts that had me very close to tears. Once I’d started reading, I honestly couldn’t put this book down!

Let it Snow
Synopsis:
It's Christmas Eve and the worst blizzard for fifty years has blanketed Gracetown. But as well as snowflakes, love is in the air - and appearing in the most unexpected ways . . .
Who'd have thought a freezing hike from a stranded train would end with a delicious kiss from a charming stranger? Or that a trip to the Waffle House through four feet of snow could lead to romance with an old friend? Or that the path to true love begins with a painfully early morning shift at Starbucks?
Why I loved it:
Let it Snow is such a heart-warming and fun collection of short stories to read. Filled with festive cheer, the magic of the holiday season shines on these three connected stories of love, romance and breath-taking kisses. It’s the perfect book for a cold winter's night, especially if you’re a fan of YA fiction already. John Green never disappoints!

Hercule Poirot’s Christmas – Agatha Christie
Synopsis:
It is Christmas Eve and not everyone is feeling full of the spirit of the season.
At the house of Simeon Lee, the family gathers, estranged and embittered they hover around the cold-hearted, ailing patriarch awaiting the reason they have all been summoned.
Then the family reunion is shattered by a deafening crash of furniture, followed by a high-pitched wailing scream. Upstairs, the tyrannical Simeon Lee lies dead in a pool of blood, his throat slashed.
But when Hercule Poirot, who is staying in the village with a friend for Christmas, offers to assist, he finds an atmosphere not of mourning but of mutual suspicion. It seems everyone had their own reason to hate the old man...
Why I loved it:
I’m a big Agatha Christie fan, and I definitely rate this book very high among Christie's books. It’s a classic. It’s so good to re-visit Agatha Christie from time to time and be reminded of what a wonderful storyteller she was. I highly recommend adding this one to your Christmas reading list!
